In what is easily the most disputed text in the Revelation, I humbly contend that what we find is not a timeline of history in advance — at least not as it’s often been understood. Rather we see another vision in the unfolding drama of Revelation — one that assures us that the defeat of the dragon, Satan, is certain and coming, and one that shows us what is already true about Jesus and about those who follow him. When we read these verses on their own terms and in light of all that has preceded them, we find tremendous encouragement as we seek to live faithfully as disciples of Jesus.
