In this passage we come to the “last battle” and encounter Jesus portrayed in a manner with which we are less familiar. Rather than the gentle Galilean peasant, we encounter Jesus as the divine warrior riding out of heaven on a mighty horse of war. Yet a surprise awaits us! The victory has already been won. On the cross, what looked like defeat, was in fact the moment of ultimate victory — a victory that is absolutely certain!
