In this chapter John receives another vision, this time of a woman dressed luxuriously and riding on a scarlet beast. John is left astonished. What we discover through the angel’s explanation of the vision is that what we are seeing is God’s coming judgment upon Rome and every other Babylon. The challenge to those who worship the Lamb is to remain faithful and resist the influence of Babylon that urges compromise. Babylon’s end is certain — she is falling. Only those who worship the Lamb will stand.
