In this text, Jesus leads his disciples from the upper room to their usual spot on the Mount of Olives. He calls them to pray and then goes off alone to pray too. As we explore this short episode we discover the heart of prayer, surrendering our will to God’s, and we see Christ faithful where we fail. As we learn to rest in Christ’s faithfulness, we will discover ourselves invited into prayer, not as a burden to accomplish but as a space we enter as we are, embraced by God who loves us and calls us into a relationship of intimacy.
