As we reflect on the second part of our vision — that Grounded in the Gospel and Empowered by the Spirit — God is calling us to grow CLOSER in Relationships with One Another, we turn to a passage in 1 Corinthians. The Apostle Paul is addressing a first century church that has focused on the individual’s “spiritual” experience and has failed to understand the corporate nature of their life in Christ and God’s plan for the church. In Christ every person is an important part of the whole and the Holy Spirit manifests himself in and through each member for the sake of the common good of the body. It is both challenging and exciting to recognize God’s design for the church and one’s vital role within the body.
