A miraculous deliverance turns into an occasion of cynicism and doubt for some in the crowd. By what power did Jesus deliver a demon-possessed man from bondage, and what does this deliverance mean? How we answer these questions is of ultimate importance, at least according to Jesus. His presence and his activity is evidence of nothing less than the in-breaking kingdom of God and each of us is called to respond. Either we surrender to Jesus as king or we reject him and remain his enemies. According to Jesus, remaining neutral is not an option.
