In these verses, Jesus continues teaching us about prayer. What we discover is that we are invited to come boldly and confidently to our heavenly Father, sharing our needs with him, and he is certain to respond, providing nothing less than his own empowering presence, the gift of the Holy Spirit. Our confidence is not rooted in our own persistence but in God’s character, for he is good and can be counted on to be with us and bring to completion his redeeming work in our lives.
