In a series of brief events, we see the disciples of Jesus struggling to get things right, and this after an amazing display of Christ’s glory in the preceding passage. What we discover as we unpack this text is that our struggles and failures don’t disqualify us from the love of Jesus. He is the long-suffering one who came to lay down his life to redeem such as them, and such as us.
