In these few verses Jesus employs illustrations from the world of agriculture and horticulture to communicate a truth that is so important for us to understand when it comes to life in his kingdom. What we discover is that our problem is far deeper than we often recognize but also that his solution is far greater than we often see. Life in the kingdom is not simply life lived according to a new ethical system; it is life lived with new hearts which will produce good fruit. The good news that Jesus announced is that in him, our lives are transformed from the inside out.
