Perhaps due to familiarity we miss it at first glance, but at the heart of this story is a surprise. A group of men came to Jesus carrying their friend, all of them desperately wanting Jesus to heal him, and though in time Jesus will, first he deals with what is the most pressing matter. Often in our lives, we fail to see what is most pressing and are overwhelmed or distracted by other things, things that ultimately are secondary. As disciples of Jesus, we are called to surrender fully to Jesus and to his desires for us. Are you willing today, to say these five words to Jesus; “Jesus, what do you want?” They are words of surrender, words that are central to a life of faith and discipleship.
