However, a bit of hard work and reflection yields a key truth for readers living centuries later; that though things around us may seem incredibly volatile and out of control, yet the same kinds of things continue to repeat themselves over and over and over again. Kings and empires rise and fall. War follows war. Violence gives way to more violence. Things seem utterly out of control, yet God holds all things in his hands and is bringing everything to its appointed end. That truth impacts our lives in substantial ways.
