The Scandal of Schisms

In this passage we are launched into the first major issue addressed in 1 Corinthians, the matter of divisions within the body. What becomes clear is that spiritual pride has divided the church and is wreaking havoc within the body of Christ that should be united. In his response, Paul leads the Corinthians straight to the heart of the gospel, the cross of Jesus, which eliminates any grounds for pride and stands firmly at the centre of Christian faith.
