At this point in Hebrews the focus shifts from the appointment of the Son as high priest to the high priestly ministry of the Son. What the author announces is that the new covenant promised by the prophet Jeremiah centuries earlier has now been established through the ministry of Jesus Christ, and that with the coming of this new covenant, the old covenant has effectively been replaced. This is, good news!
