In this passage we come to the conclusion of Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount. What we are confronted with is a story that highlights a vital truth — that though we are not saved by our obedience, obedience to Christ is essential to the Christian life. Here we see Jesus call for each of us to fully surrender our lives to him, the one who has first given his life for ours.
