As we continue to explore the Lord’s Prayer, we notice here that the very first petition fixes our eyes on God’s name, on who God is as revealed to us in the pages of scriptures. Jesus teaches us to pray, “hallowed be your name — on earth as it is in heaven.” We are invited to cry out to God to do what only he can do — making his name known and revered on all the earth. This is the deepest passion of God’s heart and it becomes that for each of us too, as we are transformed by the power of the gospel.
