In this message we move from the first beatitude to the second, seeking to understand what Jesus is saying with this jarring paradox — "Blessed are those who mourn.” What we will discover is that, contrary to our initial sense of bewilderment, what Jesus says here makes perfect sense. When the gospel takes hold of us, our hearts will ache because things — in both our own lives and this world — are not the way they are supposed to be. Yet we will also experience the comfort promised because of what God in Christ has done, is doing and will one day bring to completion.
