In this message we explore one of Jesus' parables which highlights the importance of "doing what the father wants." Obedience matters, not so that we will be loved and accepted but because we are loved and accepted already through Jesus. We come to Jesus through repentance and faith and we also live out our relationship with him through daily repentance and faith. Through the gospel and by his indwelling Spirit, we are changed into men and women who increasingly reflect his image. This truth carries with it important implications for our lives when we consider what God says to us in his Word about the church. We are called to take his commands to heart and allow him to shape us corporately into the kind of community he wants us to be.
