In this passage, Paul urges the Philippian believers to get on with obedience to what he’s been writing over the last several paragraphs, namely, standing as one. This is text is not about how to be saved but rather about how saved people live, and about how together they have a vital role to play in the midst of the environment in which they find themselves. Failure to live as a community with the mindset of Jesus will hinder their ability to fulfill their calling in Philippi. So, in light of what Christ has done and in light of who they are in Christ, now they are to “get on with” being the people of Christ where they are.
