Philippians 2:1-4
"A United People"

In these verses, Paul makes a strong appeal to the Philippians regarding one of the things that he has just previously mentioned — their oneness in Christ.  Internal tensions within the church community are threatening their unity and subsequently their ability to strive together as one for the advance of the gospel in their city.  Paul calls them to abandon the attitudes that lie at the root of their internal strife and to embrace those that will serve to foster unity and togetherness for the gospel.  Embracing this Christlike attitude will not only lead to unity but also joy — for Paul and for them — and the glory of God.
