Having walked through the preliminaries of this letter, we now move into the body where Paul makes clear what the one thing that is most important — the advance of the gospel. The spreading of the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ is what causes Paul to rejoice, even in the midst of less than ideal circumstances, and it is what shapes his life. The question we each face is, does this one most important thing also shape our lives as disciples of Christ?
